After leaving Alamosa I decided to head back the way I came until I hit the town of Fort Garland, CO. From there I headed due south toward New Mexico and stopped to get gas in San Luis. The little town of San Luis is only a few blocks but while trying to get gas I striked up a conversation with a local. He was close to my age and seeing that I was interested in the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross he wanted to guide me there.
After a short drive out of town he pointed to a small dirt road that would eventually end up at the church/shrine. Once we made it to the top we just wandered around for a bit while talking about life. I was happy to meet such a nice person that was willing to show me around for a bit. After dropping him back off along main street I continued my journey to the South.
