I awoke at 3:30am this morning and headed out the door at 4:00am for Fort Collins. Prior to photographing an architectural project I snapped a few shots of a gorgeous rainbow during the sunrise at around 5:30am. After taking photos of the project, which I’ll soon upload, I headed back to Arvada. Later on my friend and I went to Leyden for some evening shooting. After driving to Plainview and viewing the passing storms we headed back to Arvada. During the drive back another strong cell was developing over the mountains with Denver/Arvada in its sights. And sure enough a half hour later the skies opened up with a torrential downpour and a light show to remember! After dropping off my friend I was driving home and a thought crossed my mind…. with the storm still dumping and lightning all around, I decided to try my luck and head to Denver for some skyline/lightning shots. I’ve always wanted to get shots like these below but the weather never cooperated like it did tonight. The storm finally passed to the East of Denver and I arrived home at 12:15am for some much needed rest. A very long day indeed!
