As this weekend approached, my Wife and I solidified our plans to visit her Cousin in Clovis, NM for a couple of days. Knowing that we’d be heading down I-25 I also decided to take a family chest belonging to my close friend down to her mother’s cabin in La Veta, CO. Before leaving town we stocked up on some staple road trip provisions (Goldfish crackers, Beef Jerky, Hard Candies, etc.) and eventually decided to bring our dog Robin (Border Collie Mix) along with us.
On the trip down to Clovis it we did end up making a detour to La Veta, CO and drop off the chest. While there my friend’s mother showed us the the property and we were both in awe on just how beautiful it was. Knowing that we still had another 5 hours of driving before Clovis we unfortunately had to leave, although we did make a promise to make another stop on the way back. So after leaving the town the rest of the drive into New Mexico was pretty uneventful, except for some crazy weather and car accident. And after an entire day of driving we finally made it to the town of Clovis and spent a couple of days hanging out with family.
Leaving early Monday morning we said our goodbyes and started to head back North. While driving we decided to take a more scenic route to La Veta by travelling West on Highway 12 from Trinidad, CO. After an exhausting 5 hour drive we finally made it back to La Veta and I finally got the urge to take some photos. I wish I had taken more but I guess that’ll just have to wait until next time.
