With Summer fast approaching it’s only a matter of time before most of the snow in the higher terrain to become all but a memory. And so yesterday afternoon my Father and I decided to meet up early this morning and catch the sunrise on Mount Evans. After picking up my Father in Arvada we drove the 45mins to echo lake and started to ascend up winding road. Figuring the winds would be stronger up high, confirmed later on, we caught the first light of the day at Summit Lake. A few other early birds were out but the strong winds made it a challenge to capture the sunrise.
Once the Sun rose higher into the sky we drove up to the top and were greeted with the strongest winds imaginable. The winds were so strong that you could barely even open the car door, let alone stand completely upright. After descending from the top we stopped near the Bristle-cone Pine forest and captured some of the ancient giants. The twisted nature of the Bristle-cone Pine is what makes it one of my personal favorites! What a great start to the Day!
