About a month ago my girlfriend and I decided to take a few days off and do a mini road trip this Autumn. And so today, with our schedules finally freed up, we embarked on our first trip together as a couple. Our plan was to drive towards the San Juan’s Mountains of Southern Colorado and spend a few days down there. With the weather starting to change and autumn colors at or near peak it was all timing out perfectly. After getting things together we decided to head to Ouray by way of I-70, US50 and US550. Along the way we decided to stop off for some food and took a slight detour to see the waterfalls at Rifle Falls State Park. The park, which is located just north of the city of Rifle, houses some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state! On our short visit today, the trees and foliage at the base of the falls were just starting to turn with the season which made them even more spectacular.
2-day/1-night Trip Total: 15hrs 8mins of driving 774 miles.
