As the first major snowstorm cleared out last night it left a hefty dumping of snow and extremely frigid temperatures this morning. Hoping to capture the fresh snow I awoke earlier than normal and ventured out. The temperature in my Jeep read 16F and with stiff wind from the West it felt more like in the single temperatures. The first place I stopped was the overlook near the intersection of Indiana and Hwy 128. I spent about 20 minutes admiring the view from there and proceeded to Eldorado Canyon State Park.
When I arrived in the canyon the winds were really howling and once again it was extremely difficult to photograph. To gain some shelter from the winds I decided to hike along the North side of the creek. Normally the trail is clear but with all the downed tree branches it was slow going at best. Starting to lose sensation in my frozen extremities I hiked back and into the warmth of my Jeep. Overall a very pleasant way to start the work day!
