Before leaving Cuzco this morning we thought we’d visit Saqsaywaman and see some of the ruins without the hoards of people from the day before. Instead of walking up the hill we took a small taxi up to the entrance to the park where we realized that they had a steep entrance fee. The fee would also cover other parks but since we didn’t have much time to spare we decided to venture on to the Christo Blanco which was nearby and free. Apparently the statue was modeled after Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and was given as a gift to the city from Palestinian refugees in the 1940’s. Aside from the statue the views of Cuzco & Saqsaywaman are astounding from this vantage point.
