After waking up just before sunrise we decided to head to the top of the High Dune (~750ft). After a tough, long climb we finally arrived at the top, just when the sun was rising over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the East. We spent quite a bit of time on top and took in the amazing beauty of Nature! After heading back to camp we packed up and headed back to Denver.
On our way back to Denver we decided to take a detour through Rye, CO and eventually ended up in Pueblo, CO. The road flows into the San Isabel National Forest and offers amazing views and scenery. Along the Scenic Byway lies one of the most unique places in America. That is of course, Bishop’s Castle! Its the Castle that one man, Jim Bishop, has been builing for over 40years. On this day Jim was still working on his castle and its amazing to think what one man could do!
