I decided at about noon today to go camping at the Great Sand Dunes in the San Luis Valley. After passing a large storm I finally entered the National Park. Once I had picked out a great camping spot I decided to hike up to the High Dune (~750ft). I started my hike by heading due south of the dunes, knowing that there would be little to no footprints in that area. A little while later I found myself on top of the High Dune during the lackluster sunset. After relaxing on the top I started heading back as the darkness was creeping in. By the time I got mostly down it was nearly pitch black. A wonderful experience at the dunes!
