My family and I decided to head to the Great Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado early Friday morning. One of our first stops was the town of Walsenberg, where one can seen many old and abandoned structures. After leaving the town we spotted quite a few Pronghorns along the road. Luckily they didn’t seem to mind as I quickly snapped away! At La Veta Pass the fall foliage was really in full swing.
After a few more stops we were near the entrance to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Our first stop was Zapata Falls (actually just outside the park). We had seen pictures of the waterfall on the internet but never imagined just how beautiful it is in real life. After cooling off around the waterfall we headed to the dunes. Once there the storm clouds started to build up and continued through the night. All in all, a wonderful day of seeing the beauty of Colorado.
