We headed out early Saturday Morning(4:30AM) to catch the sunrise up on Trail Ridge Road. The sunrise wasn’t as vibrant as normal but that had to do with the haze from the forest fires. On this morning there were quite a bit of animals out and about: Deer, Elk and Moose to name a few. Today was the first time that we got to see just how much the pines were affected from the beetle problem. I would say more than 75% of the forest on the west side of the divide was either dead or dying. Scroll down to see some of the shots.
