After jumping out of bed and relizing that it was to be a beautiful day, I quickly headed to my favorite location. I had noticed the day before that the Elk had moved from the Foothills to the flat lands adajacent to the location. After arriving to the Open Space this morning I spotted part of the herd and started walking/hiking. I then cautiously approached the Elk and stopped on a ridge overlooking the herd. It was only then that I could see the entire grouping and just stood there….taking in the beautiful scene in front of me. The Elk…the sunny skies….and of course the Flatirons in the background. Overall there were around 90 Elk, 30 Deer and one Coyote (that scared the heck out of me after he lept up from his hiding spot and ran like the dickens).
