My friend and I decided to head to the Great Sand Dunes on Saturday. We awoke relatively early and left Arvada around 5:30AM. Some 4 hours and 250+miles later we arrived at the entrance to the National Park. Being off-season we were the 3rd people to hit the dunes that day. After hiking for a bit we arrived at the top of “High Dune” which is 650ft/198m tall and the second tallest dune in the park. The temperatures were just above freezing but the heat absorbing sand made it feel much warmer. In total the trip took 14hrs and 550miles of driving – What a great way to spend a Saturday 馃檪
